Your timesheet as Excel, CSV or PDF

Muster fills in your employer's own timesheet workbook and downloads it as an Excel file for HR. It also exports your hours as CSV, shares a report as PDF, and imports hours from a CSV or Excel file you already keep.

The timesheet for HR, in Excel

If your employer issues a timesheet workbook, Muster fills it in. You upload the blank workbook once, as .xlsx or .xlsm, and from then on Download for HR writes the period into it: every hour in the right column, the overtime already worked out by your employer's rules, and the nights away. What you send is the workbook HR asked for, not a copy of it.

If the period falls outside the workbook you uploaded, the download still runs and says so at the top, loudly. Only you can say whether the period is wrong or the workbook is out of date.

See Send to HR in the manual.

Your entries as CSV

Export on the Log tab writes one row per entry, for a period or any dates you choose:

Date, Start, Finish, Break, Hours, Job, Timezone, Activity, Tags

It opens in Excel, Google Sheets or anything else that reads CSV. Break is in hours, Finish has the break added back so the row adds up on paper, and Timezone is where the day was worked, not where the phone was when you exported. On a phone the file goes to the share sheet, so it can go straight into an email.

See Export.

Reports as PDF or CSV

Reports shows your hours any way round: by job, client, activity, week or day, for a week, a month, a pay cycle or dates you pick. Each report can be shared as a PDF or a CSV. HR and administrators have the team's reports in the admin console, by person and by job, with the overtime, and download them as CSV or print them to PDF.

Hours you already keep, imported

Import on the Log tab takes a Muster export or a TimeSheet Pro export, as .csv or as .xlsx saved from Excel or Google Sheets. Nothing is written until you have seen what it would create, and importing the same file twice skips the rows that already exist. A blank template is there to fill in by hand: headings only, with no example row that could be imported by mistake as a day nobody worked.

See Import.

Self-employed

There is no HR workbook for somebody self-employed. A period ends in an invoice, shared as a PDF, and your hours download as CSV. See Invoices for the self-employed.

What it does not do yet

There is no single button that downloads everything Muster holds about you. The CSV export and the reports cover your hours, so download them before you leave an employer.
